If you choose to fly in, Custer County hosts a small airport located approximately 9 miles south along Hwy 69 in Westcliffe.
Every year the area hosts the famous
Blue Grass Festival, Western Days and a
classic car show and many other activities on the 4th of July and throughout the
summer months.
The historic museum in Silver Cliff is a great guide to the details of the old western mining days, when Silver Cliff lost the opportunity to be the capital of Colorado to Denver by only a few votes. Silver Cliff assured it would prevail in the
polls built a governors mansion, still standing today and has recently been
renovated to preserve the memories of days long past. |
